Course Preview

It is hoped that students would have sufficient knowledge and confidence to carry the sport further at their own level, probably within the club situation.
Content:
1 day Rock Taster
is for complete beginners wishing to develop basic climbing skills. After an introduction, issue of equipment and safety briefing, the crags in Glen Nevis are accessed quickly in our mini-bus. A short walk from the layby near the river brings us to the foot of the multi layered crags at Poldubh.
You will learn about:
- climbing movement
- the safety system
- climbing calls
- belaying, knots can be studied whilst taking it in turns to complete
- a simple abseil
After a break for lunch we explore the crags further using different climbs to extend and develop the skills, with maybe an ascent of a well known route to end the day.
Introduction to Outdoor Climbing
This is 2- 3 day foundation course which provides all the basic skills to become a rock climber. For the two day courses there maybe a return to Glen Nevis or visit to a similar venue nearby to further develop the techniques acquired on the first day, with the addition of further abseiling, setting up belays. Previous Experience. It is preferred that students have a reasonable level of fitness. No prior knowledge or experience of roped climbing is needed – but some experience at Rock Taster level is preferred.
